When it comes to choosing men’s perfume, there are two broad categories: those who are loyal to the perfume they chose for their skin years and years ago and those who choose perfumes according to fashion, design or the mood of the time.
The German writer Patrick Süskind wrote in his bestseller Perfume: “Perfume has a more convincing power of persuasion than words, appearance, feeling and will. You cannot refuse the persuasive power of perfume, it penetrates us like the air we breathe penetrates our lungs, it fills us, it totally dominates us, there is no way to oppose it”.
Perfumery aficionados call them the great classics and they are perfect mixes, with a formula that never gets old or, at best, reworked in various limited editions that are fresher or more sensual. In short, the great classics never go out of fashion, and they are usually liked because they transmit tenacity and strength on the skin, a gentleman’s touch and also a rather passionate trail.
We at FreeShop have selected for you, the 10 must-haves that a man should buy, perhaps accompanied by some new items perfect for this autumn period.
The great classics also apply to men who are approaching perfumery for the first time and do not want to experiment with scents.
So have fun finding your own olfactory essence.

Once again this year we will have to deal with the arrival of cool winds and autumn rains and prepare our beloved skin for the cold of winter. The key word for this period will therefore be ‘prolonged rehydration‘.
Increased exposure to the sun’s UV rays, typical of the summer season, has contributed to accelerating the so-called ‘photoaging‘ damage, especially if proper hydration has not been followed. In order to provide the skin of the face with the right amount of nutrients, it is necessary to apply a moisturising and nourishing cream, which creates a real ultra-protective layer on the skin. For autumn, in fact, it is usual to use creams with a richer texture, based on vitamins and mineral salts, which restore the elasticity of the dermis and its natural shine. As if this weren’t enough, combination, oily and acne-prone skin must also take into account the “post-summer rebound“.
If the sun thickens the skin to defend itself against ultraviolet rays (thus reducing the formation of sebum), once the summer is over the skin returns to its usual thickness and the imperfections visible on the surface multiply.
Um dem entgegenzuwirken, empfehlen wir die folgenden vier Schritte für den Herbst und die wichtigsten Inhaltsstoffe, auf die Sie bei Produkten achten sollten.
STEP 1: CLEANSER
Cleansing your face is always the first essential step. Take a few extra minutes to do it right, with the right products for your skin type. If you want to be on the safe side, use a gentle cleanser that allows your skin to improve physiologically and allowsthe skin barrier to maintain a good balance.
STEP 2: SCRUBBING
Renew your skin. Another essential step to take for a successful autumn skincare routine is to use a gentle scrub on your face, which can mechanically work on the most superficial and lifeless layer of your skin, eliminating it and facilitating its regeneration.
STEP 3: SERUM
We need to reintroduce it gradually, after we had put it on the back burner in the summer, or almost. A serum is in fact a concentrate of active agents useful for nourishment. Serums with vitamin C, retinol and hyaluronic acid are the most important at this time of year: rich in antioxidant properties and able to accelerate cell repair.
STEP 4: MOISTURISING CREAM
And finally, after doing all this ‘dirty work’, it’s time to pamper ourselves. Finally we can indulge ourselves with the various ingredients, although the fundamental action of a moisturising cream is to prevent evaporation and dispersion of skin moisture. For the daytime it is important that your cream has protection factors (SPF at least 15), while for the evening you should use a cosmetic capable of attracting water, which has hyaluronic acid, urea, lactic acid, allantoin, or vitamin E and vegetable oils, to obtain an elasticising and nourishing action.

Can’t find your favourite perfume on sale anymore?
It happens very often that perfume houses all over the world diminish, or even cease production of a particular perfume. The reasons can be endless: from poor sales in the international market, to the rise in price of a certain ingredient in the ‘recipe’, from a change in the management of the Maison de Parfum, to others,…
Fragrances that made you fall in love during your adolescence, fragrances that remind you of someone dear to you, fragrances that you would pay gold to return to smelling and wearing on special occasions.
There are historic fragrances which remain unchanged over time in every olfactory component and method of preparation, such as Chanel N°5, others which are forced to modify certain elements due to the changing tastes of society in order to survive, others which become ‘rare goods’, of very low production and destined only for very few retailers.

1.HUGO BOSS BOTTLED
Definitely the most appreciated and purchased by men, but not only. A must-have for business and leisure travel.
Boss Bottled, like all the fragrances created by the German fashion house, has become a great classic, able to stand the test of time.
The top notes are fruity and fresh, with typically Mediterranean scents: lemon, bergamot, geranium and apple. The heart notes glorify an enveloping and irresistible soul thanks to the warm essences of mahogany and cloves. The base notes, persistent and energetic, give way to a pure masculinity made up of olive and sandalwood with a hint of vanilla that softens the harsher sides of this fragrance to enhance its persistence and strength. A timeless fragrance that has not been afraid to dare with both classic and original combinations.
WHO WE RECOMMEND IT TO: For all men who dream of a non-obvious, original and seductive classicism.
2.ARMANI STRONGER WITH YOU INTENSELY
With this new intensity, Giorgio Armani wanted to strengthen what had already made it one of the most loved fragrances by men, and also one of the best-selling. A fantastic love story that exudes confidence and strength at every turn (even at work).
Pink pepper, intense lavender and warm cinnamon provide the winning mix for the top notes. The seductive heart of the eau de parfum gradually gives way to the pleasant base notes, whose sweet accords of candied chestnuts, vanilla and tonka underline the vigour and intensity of the entire fragrance composition.

Enigmatic and adventurous, Burberry Hero is the intriguing union of robustness and softness, intensity and emotionality, energy and inventiveness.

In Cool Water by Davidoff, the power of the waves symbolises masculine virility. This fragrance has marine scents with notes of aromatic plants for a fresh and energetic result. For more than 30 years Cool Water has been in the top 5 best-selling men’s fragrances of all time, a success due to the delicate power of its fragrance, which remains persistent without ever becoming boring. Like the waves of the sea, the man of Cool Water is free and strong, explosive and lively from the charismatic, sweet and attractive.
The fragrance opens with the fresh notes of mint, the sparkle of coriander and the decisive essence of rosemary, with sweet hints of lavender. The heart mixes floral and spicy notes, with jasmine and geranium joining the precious neroli and sandalwood. The base enhances masculine power with notes of musk, wood, amber, tobacco and cedar.

5.PACO RABANNE INVICTUS
A man who is indomitable and invincible: this fragrance best expresses the idea of the man Paco Rabanne is passionate about for his Invictus, a modern fighter, sporty and always ready to take on new challenges. The mood of this fragrance takes on a new classicism, one composed of virile divinities and mythological encounters.
Whoever wears it will seem to impersonate a modern Achilles, aware of his inner power, his firmness, his nature, self-confident but also critical and self-mocking. Invictus, therefore, is distinguished by the adrenalin that emanates from its notes, strong and energetic aromas: an accord with marine scents of laurel and grapefruit mixed with an amber accord of Guaiac wood, patchouli and ambergris. An essence that wants to become a lyric to the male body.
Top notes: marine notes and grapefruit Heart notes: laurel and geranium Base notes: patchouli and ambergris
WHO WE RECOMMEND IT TO: Sportsmen, men who love adrenaline and fragrances that transmit positive energy, men who like to imagine themselves as gods of a modern Olympus.
The 26 of August is the International Women’s Equality Day.
Celebrating women every day should be the lesson; but celebrating human beings must be a matter of civilisation.
Every human must be considered a resource for humanity, as well as the difference between men and women.
The defence of women’s rights in different sectors of society is an asset for all.
However, the fight for equality between men and women has sometimes eclipsed the specific and positive differences between men and women and has contributed to relativising their value to society.
Long live the freedom of the human being, long live civilisation.
We celebrate the woman, therefore, just as we celebrate the man.

quiz to discover the fragrance that best suits your personality.
Perfume is undoubtedly one of the most loved and coveted beauty products in the history of mankind: a true beauty ritual that has been handed down for thousands of years. Choosing a perfume is never easy as many factors come into play: both technical, such as analysis of the production method, and olfactory and sensory.
Setting aside the essentially practical issue of choosing a perfume, I offer you a very short quiz to help you choose the perfume that suits your personality, or at least offer you a tool to discern between the many possibilities.
So here is a quiz to help you choose a perfume: simply write down the majority of the answers you give and find out what your olfactory profile is!
1. The alarm-clock rings. The first thought is:
A. Get me a coffee now!
B. Brioche or toast?
C. Open the windows and let the fresh air in.
2. Your favourite dinner is:
A. Kebab and Coca-Cola
B. Caesar salad and water
C. Grilled fish and wine
3. An afternoon of relaxation is:
A. Vintage market today?!
B. Luna park
C. Walking in the park
4. The film you never tire of seeing is:
A. Ramen Girl / Karate Kid
C. Midnight in Paris
5. The brand you want to wear every day:
If the majority of your answers are A, it means that you love exotic, spicy, aromatic perfumes with a strong character, just like yours!
If the majority of your answers are B, it means that you are a romantic with a weakness for gluttony.
If candyfloss is always an irresistible temptation, there’s no doubt about it, you have to try Toy 2 Bubble Gum by Moschino; if you’re hiding chocolate bars to avoid bingeing, try No Limit$ Super Fre$h by Philipp Plein as a valid substitute; if you’re just waiting for summer to binge on peaches, The Scent for Her by Hugo Boss will comfort you all winter long when you can’t eat them; if the scent of peony and magnolia is a must, Bright Crystal by Versace will make your day.
If the majority of your answers are C, you are a lover of freedom, the absence of limits, the serenity of your days.
If nothing relaxes you like a starry mid-summer night when the air is thick with the scent of jasmine, Alien by Mugler is the right fragrance to evoke that feeling all year round; if the sea is your habitat and the taste of salt on your skin makes you feel good, the new Idôle Aura by Lancôme andValentino Uomo Born in Roma will always make you feel like a little mermaid; if May is your favourite month because the greenhouses are finally overflowing with roses, you have to choose Carolina Herrera‘s Very Good Girl; if you love the scent of laundry, Narciso Rodriguez Poudréewill always make you feel clean.
Here are some tips for choosing the perfume that suits your personality.
Now all that remains is to wear it!
